With flame retardant safety and clothing, there are a couple terms that are very common and very easily confused, yet have significant differences: eg Flame Resistant and Fire Retardant have close, but slightly different meanings. The former slows down the flame; the latter stops the flame entirely.

(This is made worse by the common practice whereby manufacturers often label their products as simply "FR" eg FR Coveralls, FR Rainwear, FR Jackets and so on.)
