Impact on postal service - National Strike action is expected to affect Royal Mail services on November and December 2022.
The UK Railway Group Standard GO/RT 3279:2012 is based on European standard EN ISO 471:2003 + A1:2007. GORT compliant garments meet at least class 2 of EN 471 for the (minimum) area of orange hi viz material within a garment. All our range of Rail Spec orange hi viz anoraks, coveralls, jackets, vests, trousers and waterproof overtrousers comply with the GO/RT standard.
The intended benefit to worker safety is that by wearing these GO/RT garments you are far more likely to be seen, even in twilight by an oncoming train.
A further feature of GO/RT jackets is the absence of any hanging cords, drawstrings or toggles. This is to avoid a wearer getting caught in a coupling. Similarly, the GO/RT standard approves Velcro tearaway hi viz jerkins - which allow the wearer easier exit if the garment gets caught in a moving machine part.
Other typical Rail spec requirements are FR clothing and ATEX approved lighting.
Clothing items like the Portwest RT27 7 in 1 Waterproof Hi Vis Jacket and the Sioen 4448 Flensburg Men Work Trousers are designed to provide maximum High visibility, safety and comply with the GO/RT standard.
