Chemical Protection Workwear and PPE

Chemical protection typically falls into classifications of dry particle protection (EN 13982) and progresses to EN 14605 (spray and liquid protection, suchas with this Sioen 4964 yellow coverall).

The strength of the chemical and the duration of the exposure are fundamental in determining the appropriate level of chemical protective clothing.

Typically, disposable chemical protection is used where there is low exposure time to the chemical and where you need to avoid cross contamination..

Infective chemical agents require protection to EN 14126 such as the BizTex MicroPorous protection coverall.

Radioactive protection must comply with EN 1073, and typically requires decontamination tents and showers to prevent cross contamination.

We work closely with brands such as Alpha Solway to offer ChemMaster reusable, long term chemical protection solutions to our customers.

Our head to toe chemical resistant workwear includes respiratory protection, chemical resistant suits, chemical resistant gloves (including the popular Showa 720 and the Heavy Duty Marigold gauntlet) and safety wellingtons such as the Hazmax Chemical protection welly.

We also offer absorbants to soak up and remove dangerous chemical spills.

EN STANDARDS FOR CHEMICAL PROTECTION:

EN 374 PROTECTIVE GLOVES AGAINST CHEMICALS.

Such as the Ansell 87-900 Bi colour chemical glove.

EN 374 is for Tested and approved chemical gloves. Standard specifies the capability of gloves to protect the user against chemicals and/or micro-organisms.

BS EN 465:1995 PROTECTIVE CLOTHING

These garments give defence against liquid chemicals. Performance requirements for chemical protective clothing with spray-tight bonds between different parts of the clothing (type 4 equipment).

BS EN 466-1:1995 PROTECTIVE CLOTHING:

Protection against liquid chemicals. Performance requirements for chemical protective clothing with liquid-tight bonds between different parts of the clothing (type 3 equipment).

BS EN 467:1995: PROTECTIVE CLOTHING

Defence against liquid chemicals. Performance requirements for garments Offering protection to various parts of the body

EN14605 (TYPE 3)

Liquid Tight Suits. Protective clothing against liquid chemicals. Performance requirements for clothing with liquid-tight (Type 3) or spray-tight (Type 4) connections, including items in case protection to parts of the body only. (Types PB [3] and PB [4]). This test includes revealing a whole suit to a succession of short jets of a water based liquid, intended at various critical parts of the suit. This suit defends against strong jets of liquid chemical.

EN14605 (TYPE 4)

Spray Tight Suits. Protective clothing against liquid chemicals. Performance requirements for clothing with liquid-tight (Type 3) or spray-tight (Type 4) connections, as well as items providing protection to parts of the body only. (Types PB [3] and PB [4]). Test involves revealing a whole suit to an powerful spray of a water based liquid. This suit protects against permeation of liquid chemicals.

ENISO 13982-1 (TYPE 5)

Dry particle suit. This requires the minimum requirements for chemical protective clothing resistant to permeation by air borne solid particles. This protects against harmful dust and dry particles.

EN13034 (TYPE 6 AND TYPE PB (6))

Such as these < a href="https://northseaworkwear.com/north-sea-workwear/?searchquery=13034">EN 13034 protective overalls and trousers.

Reduce Spray suit (Type 6) and incomplete body protection items (PB 6). This requires the minimum requirements for chemical protective clothing offering limited defensive performance against liquid chemicals (Type 6 and Type PB 6 equipment). Liquid chemicals sprays or splashes that are not directional or built up on the suit but there may be a fine mist of droplets in the atmosphere.

EN1149-1

Electrostatic requirements - surface resistivity (test methods and requirements). This tests for the removal of electrostatic to evade sparks that could cause fire/hazard to the wearer)

EN14126:2003

This stipulates the requirements and test methods for limited use protective clothing offering protection against transmittable agents.

EN1073-2:2002

Protective clothing against radioactive contagion. Requirements and test methods for non-ventilated protective clothing against particulate radioactive pollution.

EN533-1

Protective clothing. Protection against heat and flame. Limited flame spread materials, material assemblies and clothing. This standard specifies the performance requirements for the partial flame spread properties of materials, material assemblies and protective clothing in order to decrease the possibility of the clothing burning and consequently avoiding a hazard. Use only over Index 2 or 3 material. NB Do not use next to the skin.
